About the company
Our client is one of the world's leading diversified shipping groups, operating a large and varied fleet across LNG, dry bulk, tanker and specialist vessel sectors on global trade routes. With a long-established presence in international shipping and offices in major maritime centres around the world, the business combines the scale and financial strength of a global operator with a focused, commercial culture in its London office.
For those looking to build a career in commercial shipping within a globally respected organisation, this is an excellent environment in which to develop.
About the role
This is a commercial associate position within our client's London team, offering a structured entry into the commercial operations side of international LNG shipping. The role is well suited to a motivated early-career professional with a foundation in LNG, tanker or bulk carrier commercial operations who is ready to take on genuine commercial responsibility within a high-quality and well-regarded shipping group.
The right candidate will be energetic, commercially curious and eager to develop their understanding of freight markets, voyage economics and client relationships in a professional setting.
What you will be doing
You will support the commercial team across the day-to-day management of voyage operations, including commercial correspondence with charterers, brokers and counterparties. You will assist in the preparation of voyage estimates and performance calculations, tracking freight market developments and contributing to commercial analysis and reporting.
Post-fixture management forms a core part of the role, covering the handling of cargo documentation, laytime and demurrage calculations, and coordination with operations and technical teams to ensure smooth voyage execution. Over time, you will build relationships with key commercial counterparties and deepen your understanding of chartering markets and freight dynamics.
What we are looking for
Candidates will ideally have experience in the commercial operations of LNG, oil tanker or dry bulk shipping, with a working understanding of how commercial decisions translate into voyage performance. A degree in shipping, maritime studies, business or a related discipline is preferred.
You must hold full right to live and work in the United Kingdom. Our client is looking for someone early in their career who brings genuine motivation, intellectual curiosity and the ambition to grow within the business. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and an organised approach to managing multiple tasks are all important in this environment.
What is on offer
Our client is offering a competitive salary depending on experience, within a London-based role that provides real exposure to international commercial shipping at a global level. This is a strong opportunity for an early-career professional to develop within a well-established and respected organisation, with the support and mentorship of an experienced commercial team.
