About the company
Our client is a regional UK airport in South Yorkshire that is entering an exciting new phase as preparations continue for its planned reopening. With significant investment going into its infrastructure and operations, the airport is building its organisation from the ground up, giving new joiners a rare chance to shape how the operation will run from day one.
About the role
This is a newly created position to establish and lead a brand new engineering function supporting the airport's future operations. Reporting to the Airport Asset Manager, the Engineering Manager will shape the engineering strategy, build the team and put in place the systems, standards and maintenance programmes that will support the airport through reopening and beyond.
The role is site based, Monday to Friday, and would suit an experienced engineering leader with a strong electrical background who wants the opportunity to build something rather than inherit it. Flexible working requests will be considered.
What is expected
You will develop and implement the airport's engineering strategy, and build and lead a high performing engineering function to deliver it. You will be responsible for the maintenance and performance of the airport's critical assets, overseeing electrical distribution, mechanical systems, building services, baggage handling, security infrastructure, standby power and utilities.
You will develop Planned Preventative Maintenance programmes and drive asset reliability, while making sure all engineering activity complies with aviation, health and safety and engineering standards. You will manage engineering budgets, contractors and capital projects, lead infrastructure improvements, and play a key part in the mobilisation and commissioning of new facilities as the airport prepares to reopen.
What is required
Candidates will need strong electrical engineering expertise supported by solid mechanical knowledge, including experience with HV systems and substations. You will have previous engineering management or team leadership experience gained in a complex, safety critical or highly operational environment, along with a strong working knowledge of maintenance, compliance and engineering processes.
You will be able to build teams, develop strategy and drive continuous improvement. Aviation or airport engineering experience would be an advantage, as would exposure to baggage or materials handling, automated systems, security infrastructure or other critical assets.
What is on offer
Our client is offering a salary of £60,000 per annum, inclusive of a market supplement, along with a relocation package of up to £8,500 and on call payments. The package includes 29 days' annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, a defined benefit pension scheme, a Health Cash Plan, the Cycle to Work scheme, employee discounts and wellbeing benefits, and family friendly policies. Flexible working requests will be considered.
