About the company

Established since the 1970s, our client has grown into one of the leading providers of marine and environmental services globally, now employing around 800 people across a broad range of specialist operations. The business delivers services spanning terminal operations to subsea cable repair, with a reputation built on technical capability, operational reliability and a genuine commitment to its people.

The company's values sit at the heart of everything the business does, shaping its culture and guiding decision-making from day-to-day operations through to long-term strategic choices. For those seeking a career that offers genuine stability, clear progression and recognition within a respected marine services business, this is a strong environment to work in.

About the role

This is a central leadership position within the Subsea Services division, responsible for the planning and delivery of complex offshore projects across the UK and North West Europe. The primary focus is subsea cable installation and repair, with overall accountability for vessel operations, offshore teams, subcontractors and client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

The role combines operational leadership, technical oversight and strategic project delivery. It is well suited to an experienced offshore professional looking for a position with both technical depth and meaningful impact, within a division that is central to the wider growth of the business.

What you will be doing

You will lead the planning and execution of subsea cable installation and repair projects, coordinating offshore teams, vessels and key subcontractors to deliver against the highest standards of safety and quality. Direct responsibility for managing and developing the offshore operations team sits within this role, including maintaining competency frameworks and mentoring staff to build capability and experience across the division.

A significant part of the role involves technical governance: producing and maintaining departmental procedures, method statements and operational documentation for marine installation and repair activities. You will manage critical subcontractors and work to develop the long-term strategic partnerships that underpin reliable offshore project delivery.

Commercially, you will provide technical input during tender development, helping to identify installation methodologies that are safe, economical and effective. You will act as a primary point of contact for existing and prospective subsea clients, ensuring strong communication and clear alignment at every stage of a project.

Health, safety and environmental performance are fundamental to this role. You will champion best practice, model the behaviours the business expects and ensure full compliance with company policies and industry standards. Identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities across the division is also a core expectation, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, reducing cost and raising operational performance without compromising safety or quality.

Regular offshore travel is a core and expected element of the position.

What we are looking for

Candidates will need to hold an engineering degree in a relevant discipline, such as marine, mechanical, electrical or civil engineering, and be able to demonstrate a minimum of ten years of experience in subsea cables, offshore construction or marine operations. A strong project management background within the subsea cable or offshore wind sectors is required.

Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage clearly and confidently across internal teams, stakeholders and clients. A solid understanding of vessel operations and offshore project logistics is expected, as is the ability to lead and develop a team in a demanding operational environment.

What is on offer

Our client is offering leadership of high-profile offshore projects across the UK and North West Europe, with real scope to shape operational standards and influence the strategic direction of a growing subsea division. This is a position that will suit experienced offshore professionals who want both technical depth and genuine leadership responsibility.

The package includes a competitive salary, pension, life assurance, access to the Cycle to Work scheme and opportunities for ongoing training and career development within a stable, well-established business. Flexible working options are available.

Our client is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and to creating an inclusive working environment for all employees.
