Location: Ireland, within around two hours' drive of Dublin, or UK-based on a hybrid pattern with a minimum of ten working days per month in Dublin (company accommodation provided)

Salary: In the region of £80,000 to £85,000, dependent on experience.

About the company

Our client is an established international ship management company operating out of Dublin and Cyprus, providing technical management services to vessel owners across the maritime sector. The business currently manages a fleet of two large Ro-Pax ferries, and is looking to strengthen its shore-based technical team with an experienced Ship Manager to take ownership of these assets.

About the role

This is a Ship Manager position, equivalent in scope to a Technical Superintendent role, carrying full responsibility for the technical management of two large Ro-Pax ferries. The role is well suited to a sea-going Chief Engineer looking to move ashore, or to an experienced Technical Superintendent, and can be based either in Ireland within a couple of hours of Dublin, or in the UK on a hybrid pattern that includes a minimum of ten working days per month in Dublin, with company accommodation provided for that time.

What you will be doing

You will be responsible for the technical management of two large Ro-Pax ferries, taking ownership of the vessels' OPEX and CAPEX budgets and ensuring they are managed effectively throughout the year. You will plan and execute dry dockings and upgrade works, and will handle the day to day technical management of your assigned vessels.

You will play an active role in the safety management and crewing of your vessels, and will take responsibility for environmental issues, including emission monitoring and control, ensuring the fleet operates in full compliance with relevant environmental standards.

Occasional out of hours and weekend work should be expected. A weekend duty roster is in place among the ship managers, with an emergency phone carried on a rotating basis.

What we are looking for

A Chief Engineer certificate of competency is required, with sea time served as Chief Engineer highly desirable. Previous experience working as a Technical Superintendent is required, and knowledge of Ro-Ro, Ro-Pax or high speed craft vessel types would be very beneficial. A full driving licence is required, and candidates must already hold the right to live and work in the UK or Ireland.

You should be based in Ireland within around two hours' drive of Dublin, or be UK-based and willing to work a hybrid pattern with a minimum of ten working days per month in Dublin.

What is on offer

Our client is offering a competitive salary in the region of £80,000 to £85,000, dependent on experience, along with 25 days of holiday plus public holidays, travel insurance, health insurance and death in service cover. Sick pay is provided for up to 12 months, with cases considered individually thereafter, and statutory pension contributions apply. Professional development is actively encouraged, and where the role is worked on a hybrid basis, company accommodation is provided in Dublin.
